A Little About RPM Records
RPM Records started in 2010 out of a basement and a lifelong passion for music and vinyl by our founding father Greg Walton. Greg grew up in the era when vinyl was everything and, like a lot of others, continued to collect vinyl until amassing a large collection of his favorites only to have to get rid of it when traveling and starting a family. His passion for vinyl never died and finally the day came where he had the opportunity to purchase his first large collection, and then another and another and soon, after a ton of blood sweat and tears, RPM Records was born. Mixed with his passions for sports cars and vinyl, the name RPM, which stands for revolutions per minute, fit perfect! Sadly, Greg passed away unexpectedly in 2020 but his dream and passion live on through us and our customers and our shared love for vinyl and music. RPM Records was passed on to Greg’s oldest son, Alex Walton, who grew up following Greg around sharing all of his passions and learning the tricks of the trade when it comes to turntable repairs and equipment and speaker setup. While keeping Greg’s dream alive and remembering where we came from while also looking to the future, RPM Records strives to be the go-to record store in northern Michigan.
